§ 01 — Who we are
Flywus Studios is an audiovisual production company based in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Alongside our own commercial and music work, we act as the local production service partner for features, series, documentaries and campaigns shooting in the Canary Islands.
We have serviced international productions on the ground here — including the Lionsgate feature Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, where we produced the official behind-the-scenes coverage, and the documentary series Hidden Canary Islands, released on Amazon Prime and Apple TV+.
We are members of the Canary Islands audiovisual cluster and listed with Canary Islands Film and the Tenerife Film Commission.
§ 02 — What we handle
Everything on the ground

Local crew
Camera, lighting, grip, sound and art department from the islands, scaled to the size of your production. We crew up without flying a unit in from mainland Spain.

Locations and permits
Scouting, tech recces and the paperwork: municipal permits, protected natural areas, road closures and drone authorisations. We know what can be asked for, from whom and how far in advance.

Equipment and rental
Our own kit plus local rental — cameras, optics, lighting and grip — through our own group. No transatlantic freight for standard packages.

Logistics and production office
Transport, accommodation, catering, inter-island movement and the day-to-day production office while you are on the ground.

Connectivity on set
Satellite internet and remote video assist through our own group, so producers and clients can watch a live feed from anywhere.

Post-production
Editing, colour, sound and VFX in the islands if you want to finish here, or dailies and deliverables prepared for your own post house.
§ 03 — Why the Canary Islands
Many landscapes, short distances. Black sand, laurel forest, volcanic desert, dunes and colonial streets — often within an hour's drive. Less time on the road is more time shooting.
Light you can plan around. A stable climate and long usable days all year, including winter, when much of Europe loses its exteriors.
Spain and the EU. European legal framework, euro, no customs friction for EU productions, and direct flights from the main European hubs.
Tax incentive for film and TV. Features, short films, series and documentaries shot here can access the deduction under article 36 of the Spanish Corporate Income Tax Act through the Canary Islands special regime (Ley 19/1994), with higher rates than mainland Spain. It does not apply to advertising, music videos, branded content or events. We can connect you with the local advisers who handle the filing.

§ 05 — FAQ
What does a production service company in the Canary Islands actually do?
We act as your local production company: we crew up, scout and secure locations, handle permits and paperwork, arrange equipment, transport and accommodation, and run the production office on the ground. Your producer keeps creative control and we make the shoot happen locally, under Spanish and EU regulations.
Do you handle filming permits and location agreements?
Yes. That includes municipal permits, protected natural areas — which have their own timelines and conditions — private location agreements, road management and drone authorisations. Permit lead times are the single most common reason a shoot date moves, so we start them as soon as there is a probable location list.
Are there tax incentives for filming in the Canary Islands?
Film productions — features, short films, series and documentaries — shot in the Canary Islands can access the deduction under article 36 of the Spanish Corporate Income Tax Act applied through the Canary Islands special regime (Ley 19/1994), with higher rates than mainland Spain and specific caps per project. It does not apply to advertising, music videos, branded content or events. We can point you to the current terms and to the local advisers who file it.
How quickly can you put a crew together?
For a standard commercial or documentary unit, one to two weeks is comfortable. We have worked to shorter notice, but the limiting factors are rarely the crew: they are permits, specific locations and, in high season, accommodation.
Do you work with foreign producers and agencies?
Yes. A large part of our work is servicing productions from mainland Spain, Europe and the United States. We are used to working alongside an incoming director, DoP and producer, and to reporting in the format your production requires.
Which islands do you cover?
All eight. Our base is in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and inter-island logistics are part of our routine — including Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria. Moving a unit between islands is a scheduling question, not an obstacle.
